Drain Cleaning

When you're facing stubborn clogs, knowing what steps to take can help property owners maintain a healthy plumbing system. At High Speed Plumbing, we’ve seen it all, and we’re here to help you keep your drains clear and problem-free. Read below to learn more about the warning signs of clogged drains, the risks of DIY attempts, and the importance of professional intervention.

Early Warning Signs of a Clogged Drain

Most homeowners don’t think about their drains until a problem occurs, but paying attention to the signs can save you from a future emergency clogged drain repair in Phoenix. Clogs don’t form overnight. They build up over time, giving you clues along the way.

  • Slow drainage: If water is taking longer than normal to drain from your sink, shower, or bathtub, it’s a sign that something is blocking the flow. Hair, soap scum, food, or grease can accumulate inside the pipes, narrowing the passageway.
  • Gurgling sounds: Noises coming from your drains are another indication that something isn’t right. The gurgling sounds occur when air is trapped in the pipes due to a blockage. This can happen in sinks, toilets, or floor drains.
  • Unpleasant odors: Bad smells in the area of your drains could point to the buildup of organic material or stagnant water trapped by a clog. If you notice persistent odors in your kitchen or bathroom, it's likely time to address the issue before it gets worse.

How DIY Drain Cleaning Can Make Things Worse

Many homeowners will reach for chemical drain cleaners or DIY methods to fix plumbing problems. Unfortunately, this solution often makes the situation worse in the long run.

  • Chemical drain cleaners: Most store-bought drain cleaners contain harsh chemicals that can erode your pipes over time. They might dissolve part of a clog, but they also weaken the material of the pipe itself, leading to leaks or even the need for a full drain line replacement.
  • Plungers and drain snakes: These tools can help with minor clogs, but they also pose risks. If used incorrectly, a plunger can push the clog deeper into the pipe, while a drain snake can scratch or puncture pipes.
  • Partial removal of the clog: DIY methods often only remove part of the clog, leaving debris behind. This can lead to recurring problems and eventually require professional clogged drain line repair to fully clear the blockage and restore your plumbing system.

Our Customers Love Our Services

High Speed Plumbing did a great job, starting with my phone call all the way to the end of the service. They kept me informed via text and notified me when the plumber (Armando) was on his way. Armando was great! He listened well when I described the problem, explained what he was going to do, and went to work very professionally. He cleared the drain, cleaned up, and gave a 30 day guarantee on the cleared drain. I will definitely call High Speed Plumbing the next time I have a drain issue.

Called Juan at night about a gas leak the Gas Co, found that caused the Gas Co to red tag the meter and shut it off. Juan sent Christopher the next morning. He is a great guy with a great attitude and super professional skill. His ethics are high. High Speed I was told is a term used in military(veteran owned and staffed company) that denotes someone who is quick, resourceful and accurate at getting issues dealt with. By that standard Chris is definitely a "high speed" Thank you and may God Bless you and your Company :-) Update 2023: Due to summer gas bill going from 10 dollars up to 65 monthly, despite heaters off for the summer, needed 2 additional gas valves replaced in my 1948 house. Juan tested gas line for leaks, found 2 leaking gas valves, then Anthony replaced the valves, then Juan and Anthony retested gas line to verify that there were no further leaks. Quick, professional, one-shot service, excellent attitude, knowledge, and follow through. Use High Speed to get the job done right. High Speed isn't just their name, it's their level of skill and getting it done right, quickly. 092823 To my 10 million followers, a 2 thumbs up, recommend strongly. Update 112823: I needed help lighting the wall heater's pilot supplied by the new gas valve that High Speed installed on 092823. They came over and got it lit in no time at all. I had tried lighting it with my plasma lighter, but it turns out it required a regular butane lighter to light it. Thank you so much :-

The Role of Routine Maintenance in Preventing Clogs

Prevention is always better than a cure, and that’s especially true when it comes to your plumbing. Routine drain maintenance is key to avoiding costly repairs and ensuring your system runs efficiently for years to come. Many homeowners overlook the importance of regular check-ups and cleanings, which can lead to unexpected emergencies.

  • Regular cleaning services: Scheduling routine clogged drain cleaning in Phoenix helps clear out buildup before it has a chance to create a clog. Professionals use specialized tools that remove debris without damaging your pipes.
  • Drain screens and filters: Installing screens or filters over your drains can catch hair, food, and other debris before they find their way into the plumbing system.
  • Be mindful of what you flush or rinse down the drain: Avoid flushing non-degradable items, such as wet wipes, paper towels, or sanitary products, as they can block your pipes. In the kitchen, refrain from pouring grease or oil down the drain, as these substances solidify and create blockages over time.

Tools and Techniques Professionals Use to Clear Stubborn Clogs

When it comes to severe clogs that can’t be cleared by routine maintenance or DIY methods, professional intervention is necessary. At High Speed Plumbing, we use advanced tools and techniques to thoroughly remove blockages and restore your pipes to peak condition.

  • Hydro-jetting: One of the most effective methods for clearing stubborn clogs is hydro-jetting. This process uses high-pressure water to blast away debris, grease, and even tree roots from your pipes. Hydro-jetting not only clears the clog but also cleans the inside of the pipe, preventing future blockages.
  • Video camera inspections: Before starting the cleaning process, professionals often use a small video camera to inspect the inside of your pipes. This helps them identify the location and the cause of the clog, so that they target the problem with precision.
  • Electric augers and rooters: For particularly tough clogs, plumbers may use electric augers or rooters. These devices have rotating blades that cut through tree roots and other obstructions, clearing the way for smooth water flow.
